Update: The 2027 Norwegian Hot Works Mandate

At Vobling, we believe in keeping our clients and partners informed about the latest industry standards. We are reaching out with an update regarding the Norwegian certification for Hot Works (Varme arbeider).


What has changed? In previous communications, we shared the news that Brannvernforeningen and Finans Norge planned to phase out traditional, live-fire extinguishing exercises by January 1, 2027. The original decision was made to promote environmental sustainability and reduce emissions.

Recently, following logistical and practical feedback from the industry, it has been decided that this mandate will be adjusted. As of the latest update, traditional live-fire exercises will remain an approved alternative alongside digital VR training, even after January 1, 2027.


Why VR remains a highly relevant alternative Although the strict mandate for 2027 has been lifted, VR remains a fully approved and highly recommended method for Hot Works training. The original environmental goals set by Brannvernforeningen are still important to the industry, and VR technology continues to solve several key challenges:
